Some Jedi Teachings

09:22 Dec 19 2007
Times Read: 671

1. Live in the present moment because the present moment is where we connect to the Living Force, Tao, Great Spirit, God, etc. Past and Future thinking will clog up our minds and stess us out. All the great Masters and Lamas have thought the same thing.

2. Trust your feelings/intuitions. They are talking

about that 'gut feeling' that you get sometimes if you pay attention. We need not suppress our intuition but instead let it raise up from our core and then present it to our conscious/rational mind to see if we can use that data. Sometimes it's meaningful, sometimes it's not.

3. Feel the Force and be aware of the natural flow of things. Are we going with the flow or against the flow? If everything is going wrong then we are probably going against the flow. Things will be a lot easier if we go with the flow of the Force, and we will feel at peace too.

4. Being mindful of our thoughts is important in this modern world. We are being bombarded with all types of thoughts and influences from outside sources. We need to keep tabs on our thoughts. Are we involved with Negative Self Talk? Are we running ourselves and others down too? Or do we have a positive and healthy attitude?

5. Meditation reminds me of Yoda saying, "Meditate on this I will". It means calming the mind and really looking at things. It's an excellent way to get in touch with ourselves. Meditation is also sitting down and feeling the Force, but in order to feel the Force we have to empty our minds of all the distracting

thoughts.

6. Jedi virtues like compassion, peacefulness,

calmness, responsibility, and justice remind us that we are to be good people. We believe in life and protecting and defending life, happiness, human rights, fairness, kindness and Universal order. The Force loves life and wants us to enjoy our lives. Without virtues we can't enjoy life.

7. Jedi use the Force for defending and protecting others. This can take many forms such as actual physical protection, protective visualizations, protective prayers and meditations. Jedi can also protect and defend others from spiritual harm and mental harm. There are many levels of protecting others.

8. The four vices (fear, anger, aggression and hate) are like warning bells for Jedi. If we find them sprouting in ourselves its time to stop everything and fix the problem. They warn us that we are going away from the Force and moving towards the dark side. We should always be on the look out for these four vices and seek out self improvement programs (classes, books, videos, tapes, CDs) to help rid ourselves of them.

9. Being physically fit means that a Jedi can fulfill

his/her duties in a better way. How can we defend and protect others if we are totally out of shape? Physical fitness is also connected to our mental fitness and spiritual fitness like a triangle, so we need all three to feel good about ourselves and to properly function.

10. Believing that the Force has a will or a plan for the Universe is important. If we trust in the will of the Force there is no fear. I believe that there is a plan for every soul, call it destiny, and this plan is in the soul's best interest, but we can't judge or completely understand this plan from our level of existence.

11. Teaching ourselves to let go of our attachments and the things we fear to lose. We need to put forth our best effort for our love ones, friends, pets and other attachments and then let go and surrender the outcome/results to the Force. "Let go and let God" as the old saying goes. Some things are beyond our control and we need to just let go and trust the

Force.

12. Jedi try to see death as a part of the natural

order of things. Death doesn't mean the end but

instead a new beginning for the soul, a new ath.

Death means moving on in a new direction and need not be mourned, but we need to have the greatest feelings of gratitude for the opportunity to have know and served our loved ones and friends who have passed on to the next world. We also need to trust the Force concerning our loved ones and friends and let go so that their spirits can move on in peace.

Is a purple saber preferable in the NJO?

I would think so if one walks the balance between light and dark successfully...

edit: the toss up question to decide between purple and green lightsaber was between knowledge or balanced saber and force skills - I chose knowledge which gave me the purple blade.
